Transport-related pollution kills thousands each week. Meanwhile, transport remains inaccessible to nearly 1 billion people with disabilities. We need updated transport systems that respond to a rapidly changing world.

HVT at Transforming Transportation 2020
For nearly two decades, the Transforming Transportation Conference, organised by the World Bank and the World Resources Institute, has provided a high-profile international platform to address challenges and develop solutions for transport development. In 2020, Transforming Transportation will take place on 16th and 17th January at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, D.C under the theme 'Connecting People for Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Transformation'.
The UK Aid-funded HVT and Research for Community Access Partnership (ReCAP) programmes will host a session on disability and inclusive transport. It will build on the foresight session presented at the World Road Congress in Abu Dhabi in October and delve more deeply into the barriers to inclusive transport policy and how these can be overcome.
The pace at which transport users now experience change is rapid, increasingly so. There is a window of opportunity to move towards a better transport future; learning lessons from the past, shaping the future – and now is the time to act.
